Sovéyo Village Project
The “Sovéyo Village Project” will be a model demonstrating how things should be done for children who lost their loved ones. These children are thirsty of touching, holding, emotional support, and for the love that would only come from a mother. Even before the age of two, children are sensitive to feeling of loss or sensing stress in elders and seek reassurance. This community will create opportunities, programs and services for the children to become balanced, responsible, and contributing members in their society.
“I read this story about a starfish. There was this boy walking along the beach, and he came across the starfish in the sand, and he picked him up and returned him to the ocean. And this old man came along and yelled at the kids, ‘You think you can save that starfish?’ You think you can change anything? And the boy, said, ‘Well, if I can save the life of just one, isn’t that worth something? An that’s how I look at Haiti.”
